The Modesto Marathon in California was Chris's 2nd full marathon. Completed in 4 hours, 27 minutes and 15 seconds, he was only 4 minutes and 3 seconds shy of beating his Scotiabank Charity Marathon in Calgary in 2016. The courses differed with Modesto terrain being more flat than Calgary's. The route went outside the city onto some rougher country roads, which was challenging. The biggest challenge of all was mental. Without many cheering stations along the route, it was hard to keep adrenaline up and fight off the fatigue. Luckily, the thought of the amazing playground project being made a reality because of fundraising efforts by Chris and a few others, was great inspiration!
Growing up without arms and legs, Chris knows how convenient it would have been to have a playground made that was friendly to kids with disabilities when he was growing up. He was happy to help raise money towards an inclusive and accessible playground called "The Awesome Spot" located at Beyer Park in the city of Modesto, California. This playground was the idea and design efforts of an organization called Shane's Inspiration.
